WCS Consultancy
Apply now for the new round of WCS Consultancy.
WCS is pleased to announce a limited number of new places available for Consultancy support. The fully subsidised support available is individually tailored to your organisation, and intended to assist you in becoming more employer responsive. Each consultancy involves a specialist consultant being assigned to work with you.
Due to an expected high level of demand for the consultancy places we will need to review all applications against selection criteria to ensure a representative allocation of participants. Priority will be given to those providers who have not yet accessed consultancy support from WCS or the Train to Gain Development programmes.
It is important to note that your application does not guarantee you consultancy support; we will endeavour to inform all applicants of the decision by the end of July.
Successful providers will also need to be committed to provide sufficient resource, and of an appropriate level, in order to ensure that the consultancy can be completed before the end of March 2010.
How to apply
To make an application please complete the application form here.
The deadline for all applications is Friday 3rd July.
As part of the World Class Skills programme we’ve invited LSC funded providers to apply for consultancy support.
The support available is individually tailored to your organisation, and intended to assist you in becoming more employer responsive.

Each consultancy involves a KPMG consultant being assigned to work with you. The consultancy has 4 stages:
1. Diagnostic – what are the issues that are affecting your work with employers, using the Employer Responsiveness Framework
2. Creating a Development Plan
3. Implementing your development plan, and accessing specialist support
4. Evaluation of the consultancy support.
1)Diagnostic questionnaire - The Employer Responsiveness Framework
The first stage of World Class Skills consultancy support is diagnostic. A KPMG consultant will be assigned to your organisation to help you complete the Employer Responsiveness Framework.
The Employer Responsiveness Framework is a document that helps your organisation to review its businesses processes from end to end, and measure their performance for employer responsiveness. Completing the framework will enable you to prioritise areas for improvement.
The quality indicators in the framework have been adapted from a wide range of quality standards relating to employer responsiveness, including the Training Quality Standard (TQS).
World Class Skills consultancy aims to be as tailored and flexible to your organisation as possible. The Framework helps providers to systematically assess starting points and what is/is not working, and is completed to a depth that suits your organisation. It’s not an audit!
2) Development Plan
The Employer Responsiveness Framework helps to identify and prioritise areas for improvement of employer responsiveness. The next stage of the consultancy is to draw up a development plan. This will give a clear direction for you to improve the areas identified in the framework, and determine which areas WCS consultancy support can help with. A KPMG consultant will work with you to complete this development plan. What is vital is that the development plan becomes a living document, used to help you deliver high quality employer responsive provisioning.
3) Implementation
Once areas have been identified for improvement with the Employer Responsiveness Framework, and a way forwards has been agreed with the development plan, KPMG consultants will help you to make the changes to your organisation.
- Staff interviews
- Role plays with staff
- On-site workshops
Due to the high level of demand that we have experienced for this service, we will now only be starting additional consultancies on a periodic basis. Once you have applied we will contact you with an acknowledgement. When we are able to begin your consultancy support, one of our team will be in touch to discuss a start date.
In addition, due to the timing within the financial year, we can only commit to complete the initial diagnostic phase of the consultancy by the end of March 09.
